I’m afraid I can’t do that, Dave
Sorry to post this at the last minute but just wanted to alert my sci-fi homies that 2001: A Space Odyssey is playing at the Belcourt, but hurry — today is the last day. 11:30 AM or 4:30 PM.
Can you believe I’d never actually seen it? I mean I pretty much knew the thing already from all the pop culture references to it made in the years since (I’m afraid I can’t do that, Kyle!). Sorta cool though that I inadvertantly managed to save actually seeing it until I could see it on the big screen. And this is one that really needs the big screen (and the big sound system) to be appreciated.
For Kubrick fans in general, they’ve also got A Clockwork Orange and Dr. Strangelove. Looks like those will be running through Thursday. I’ll probably try & squeeze ‘em both in. Although I’ve seen ‘Clockwork’ on video and was a little disappointed, since I’d read the book first and really thought the movie screwed the pooch by leaving off the last chapter. Anyway will still be good to see it on the big screen while I can.

[...] Back to the Belcourt for 2001: A Space Odyssey. This was actually after a false start, attempted to hit the Shakespeare in the Park, but changed plans after getting there a tad late. [...]
