Ah, no I hadn't seen that, good to be aware of. The nerd in me can't help but be intrigued by the notion of ordering online, so I'll have to give 'em a chance still ... but if it doesn't fly, then yeah I may try the Cool Springs Wild Oats after all.

I just hope that the grocers don't pass that 'difficult customer' list around like with Elaine & the doctors on that Seinfeld episode ... you don't want to have to start getting your groceries at Petsmart! : )

Did you ever see all my kvetching about Plumgood last summer? I had some not-pleasant experiences, but I think they were mostly ironing out the kinks in their system. And I think I made it onto some special "difficult customer" list, because last time I emailed them with a problem I got a reply from the president of the company within 2 minutes. Hee.

Anyway, why not stop at Wild Oats on your way home from work? That's a pretty good way to get decent produce. I've been doing it nearly every night this week, and I now consider it one of the perks of this job. :)

Good luck with your produce!

if that's this HG Hills-to-Publix project, then yeah, that's a whole other area, Wild Oats would be closer. I think I know where the Mediterranean grocery is, in that plaza with the House of Kabob? I should definitely check that place out, it's right around the corner, in fact it's closer than Kroger and I could easily bike there when the weather warms up.

If you send me your email address I can send you a referral to Plumgood -- I think that you'll get free shipping on your first order and I'll get some sort of kickback, too.

I've seen those commercials, too and thought the packaging was pointless and absurd. But that's because I like my bananas RIPE. As in, if you're throwing a banana away, it's probably the kind I like to eat. Brown spots, please. I hate underripe bananas; they make my teeth hurt.

The Kroger in Belle Meade always has green bananas, so I'm having to buy my 'nanas at Harris Teeter on Hwy 100. They'll sell a huge bag of ripe bananas for $1! And if I don't eat them all before they're too mushy to peel, I just save them to make banana bread. BTW, there's a Publix opening in the old HG Hill on Harding; is that too far from your neighborhood? And the Med. grocery on Thompson Lane just east of Nolensville is pretty good. It's in a little shopping center with a Persian restaurant.

The more I think about it, the more I think I may try out Plumgood. The minimum order is what, $20? I think I could probably figure out how to use $20 worth of produce maybe every two weeks or so.

As far as Wal-Mart goes, I'm not a boycotter per se, but I do try to make them an option of last resort. More because I'm a wannabe snob than for any sociopolitical reasons : )

Actually I am glad the new store is there -- the old Harding Mall had to go, and I'm not sure what besides a SuperWM could have revitalized that particular space as well. I'm glad they had the sense to go with bilingual signage, I think they'd be in for a rough time in this area without it.

Chicquita has an ad campaign now? Wow, look at how much Tivo has spoiled me.

I wasn't aware that bananas were a problem. Was there really a big controversy over bananas? I feel like I'm opening up an episode of Seinfeld. But seriously... I had no idea.

I'm so glad it's been resolved though :) The world can go back to being peaceful again. hehe

If you're not one of the boycotters, the new Super Wal-mart center opened up at Harding and Nolensville. 24 hrs and a pretty decent spread of produce.

And you can take your pick of spanish or english signage.

Plumgood is AWESOME, as is the Delvin Farms CSA. I highly recomment both. (Although if you don't want a big commitment like the CSA, last spring & summer Plumgood offered the Delvin Farms boxes week by week.)

The banana package thing is crazy. And expensive.
