War without Tears

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

This song has come up in conversation a couple times in the past week or so, and it’s one of my all time favorites, so I thought I’d point a link. Plus I’ve seen a few people do something about “Feel Good Fridays”, but I figure the closest I can get is “Feel Dark, Reflective, [...]

The Nashvillest has the latest scoop on the fairgrounds redevelopment issue. Particularly they point us to the marketing research group contracted to study the issue.

LP Nominates Drug Warrior, Bigot

Monday, May 26th, 2008

Final tally on the 6th ballot, Barr 324, Ruwart 276. Just to rub it in, pro-war neocon Wayne Allyn Root got veep.
As I said before, a bad day for the Libertarian Party, a good day for Obama. If nothing else the Barr factor plus the African American factor gives us an excellent chance of turning [...]

In Convention

Sunday, May 25th, 2008

I’ve been watching the LP Convention coverage on C-Span, they had the nominating speeches this morning, and just now finished the first round of balloting. Looking at the numbers for the first round, I’m thinking my prediction may bear out.
First round went 153 Barr, 152 Ruwart, 123 Root, 71 Gravel, 119 for everyone else, plus [...]

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

Walked over to Coleman for the Flatrock Festival opening ceremony. Heading back over there shortly, but just wanted to share this great quote from the ceremony (paraphrased from memory) …

I’ve been in the Woodbine community for 36 years, and people always ask me, “Why on earth do you live in Woodbine?” — and now I [...]

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

I saw Son of Rambow last night, and damn if it wasn’t good enough to warrant both a tweet and a post.
As usual, Jim Ridley gives a much more proper review than I ever could. I can just say it was very funny, wonderfully imaginative, and deeply moving — one of the best movies I’ve [...]

Clinton Steals Libertarian Nomination

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

Heh. The money quote:

In a scathing attack on his party’s leadership, [Neil Boortz] blurted, “I can’t believe those double-crossing [expletive deleted] have thrown in with that Jezebel! You can’t trust anybody to sell out to the right people anymore!”

get the rest here…

Confused?

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

You won’t be, after this week’s episode of … Soap!
Ha. I don’t have much to say, I just really love that line, maybe one of the best tag lines in television history.
Anyway I just got through watching Season One. I have faint memories of it coming on when I was a kid, though I [...]
